The Boston Massacre, Part 2.

I thought that the Yankees were on a real roll before we came to Boston, despite the fact that we lost a terrible series to Baltimore, but I would have never envisioned this weekend.

Ive heard many stories from older Yankee fans about The Boston Massacre in 1978, how the Yanks go into enemy territory and take a series from the Sox.  Total annihilation.  Ive even seen video of a beaten Carl Yastremski leaning on the Green Monster, sullen and in total disbelief. I also remember how in that year Bucky Dent hit his famous home run over the Green Monster.  But none of that can compare to this weekend.

Ill go out on a limb and say that Yankee pitching has been decent while the soft white underbelly of the Red Sox has been exposed, being their entire pitching staff.  Wang has been Wang, befuddling with his stuff and his composure, but I thought for sure that the Yankees were going to take a L in the nightcap, but the Bomber bats took care of it all, with Johhny Damon punishing his former team, and getting the just-designated-for-assignment Sidney Ponson off the hook, giving him the no-decision.  I honestly do not know what the big deal is about this guy, as all that I have ever seen of him while he has been in the Majors has been hittable fastballs, heavy boozing and inconsistent performances, as the Yanks have rocked this guy on a regular basis as a member of the Orioles.  Im happy to see him go, as he has shown absolutely NOTHING in his time here.

Randy did take a perfect game into the 5th yesterday,  before the Sox finally got to him in the same inning.  The struggling Boston bullpen walks in the go ahead runs, and JORGIE GOES BOOM!!!!  I managed to catch the Jorgie triple at my buddy Alex's house ( the only Red Sox fan I call friend), and he couldnt bear to watch anymore.  It was some sight to behold, as the recent optimism through Red Sox Nation has quickly dissipated and the pre-2004 mentality has sunken in.  As Peter Griffin would say, "*******' Sweet!"   At this point, why would I rule out the Yanks sweeping the entire series?

Tonight is the one game in which I cannot pick a winner.  This is a marquee matchup, Moose versus Schilling.  Moose has been on an absolute tear lately, and the way Boston pitching has been going lately, Schilling needs to get a good start tonight so that the young Boston bullpen can take the night off.  That said, I dont think that its going to happen, the Yankees are hitting extremely well right now, and Johhny Clutch has punished the Sox on a continual basis this weekend.  I think that he has definitely earned his stripes, albeit in a quiet manner.  These guys are for real, and it gives me hope that we can win number 27 this year.

4.5 games in front, and it feels good.  The Yanks can pull away this week, as this weekend has been morale-crushing to say the least.  The Bombers are playing championship ball right now, and it looks to be a good stretch run.

LETS GO YANKEES!!!!

I think this is going to be a pretty good game, even though deep inside I hope Schilling doesn't have it and gives up a 5 spot to start the game. We have punished the Sox pitching and it will continue today. Like you said, a demoralizing weekend even if we lose both games. We exposed them for what they are, and even Henry didn't want to watch the debacle as he left before the game finished. Looking forward to a good game and hopefully a Yankee win!
