Sweep.
I didnt want to predict a sweep. I wanted to go into this afternoons game with the attitude that the Sox were going to win one, and not make themselves look like a team due for a nose-dive. Just enjoy the game, no matter the outcome. I was already happy with the previous 4 games played, knowing that the Yanks are playing their best baseball of the season and that we can come up big when we had to and the Yanks have become that gritty, hard-nosed team that we havent seen since the run in the late 90's.
This was a classic pitchers duel, with David Wells and Cory LIdle going toe-for-toe, pitch for pitch. And what a defensive game by A-Rod! I guess that new black glove he has been using has given him his fielding ability back, making some crucial plays and saving a couple of runs in the process! That is going to carry us, along with the pitching staff dealing how that have been lately. Bobby Abreu has certainly proved his worth, as he is showing how much of a good pick-up he is. Nick Green hit an unlikely double, and advanced on a sac bunt by Melky. I can watch a typical Bronx Bombers performance just as much as any Yankee fan, but I love watching the Yanks play smallball when they have to, and executing when they have to. Keith Foulke was victimized by a wild pitch, and Green plates an insurance run.
The Yankee fan inside of me wants to say that Boston is done. But the realistic me does not want to count the Red Sox out at this point. They have shown time and again that they can succeed despite the odds, and hey, David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez have proven how deadly they can truly be. Honestly, do I see the Sox coming back from this? Not really. The Yankee pitching staff proved that no matter who they face, they are going to go their hardest and have what it takes to take us to the Promised Land. Hold on to your Yankee Fitted, everyone, this is going to be one wild ride.
Onto Seattle, and the Mariners in their jewel of a ballpark in SAfeCo Field. Jeff Kartsens makes his debut in The Show against Gil Meche, and I see The Bombers taking this series, as The Mariners are mired in another season of mediocrity.
LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!
